Rain, voltage problems and a blown head gasket summed up the day. Things started out well with some last minute vinyl additions to the car making it look quite seasonal, thanks again to Proyecto. On the transit to the first stage we noticed an over voltage coming off the alternator that had some effects on how the car was running but things were going well. On the third stage we were pushing hard and ended up loosing the head gasket after a bit of an overheat. The signs were clear with the motor turning over too easy and compression coming back through the coolant system. It looks like the next event we will be doing will be Olympus next spring.
Budget rally racing at it's finest.
Like the name says we know we have a long hard fight ahead of us.

Mt Hood
With the cancellation of Wild West our efforts shifted to Mt. Hood and getting some more work done on the car. The aluminum skid plate was replaced with a stainless one that was a bit thicker and mounted better(I hope). The car is also getting some much needed body work not that I am that good but I have to lean sometime. On the plus side it is really convenient to be able to drive the car while it is all taped up.

Wild West Canceled
It's a sad day when an event gets canceled but it's better to have enough volunteers and entries. It looks like we will be shifting out focus to Mt. Hood in October. Quinn at NorthWind Racing has been working hard getting a new drive train in the 99.

Civic Build
No Alibi Completed
Aelen Mabille, and I took on the challenges of Eastern Washington and lots of math. The result was a second place finish in the Novice class, a very dirty car and plans for an additional event; the Mountain to Sea TSD.

92 Civic
I got my hands on the Civic yesterday and took it for a 400 mile test drive. Before heading out I checked all the fluids and changed the oil. It came out black as sin so a new motor is in my mind. I got some new wires because I though it was misfiring then I hit the road. There was a weird vibration when it got up to 70 I started to get a better feel for the situation when I started coming up Vantage down shifted to third to try and get what I could out of that 1.5 liter. It was defiantly misfiring so I pulled into Ellensburg checked the plugs and this was what I saw. Needless to say I got some new NGKs although I opted for a hotter plug and it was like driving a different car. I spent some time working on the Northwind Saab.
After some body work and cleaning up Quinn's shop I headed back home.
It was definatly a good shake down, the list for the car has gotten started
Alignment
New windshield
Cage
Skid Plates
Fresh Paint
